Spin Creates New Logo for Ministry of Sound

Design studio Spin has created the new logo and identity for famous London night club and independent record label Ministry of Sound.

Mimicking the House of Commons crest, the original Ministry of Sound logo was created by artist Chemical X. However, to mark the Ministry of Sound’s 25th birthday in 2016, Spin was asked to help develop a new look.

While the new logo incorporates certain aspects of the original design such as the circular arches, it does away with the spherical gate and crown graphic; the latter two elements being replaced with a new triangular ‘M’ mark.

Spin has also adopted a more minimal tone by abandoning the use of any wordmark or typography.

The designers say they were inspired by the “spiky, irreverent qualities the club is famous for”.
