The National Ballet of Canada Marks 75th Anniversary with Special Branding

Bruce Mau Design (BMD) has revealed its latest branding project, a collaboration with The National Ballet of Canada (NBOC) as the organisation prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary season in 2026/27
Building on the identity redesign BMD executed for NBOC in 2024, the studio was invited once more to craft a special design concept for the ballet company's milestone anniversary.
"Rather than treating the milestone as a one-off commemorative logo, the work positions '75' as a narrative device, integrated into the core logo system and visual language to live across the entire season," says the design team.
Adding: "The result is a flexible, future-facing design system that honours NBOC’s legacy while supporting the full breadth of its programming, performance, and expression. Rather than sitting apart from the brand, the anniversary becomes part of its ongoing evolution."
"For us, the question wasn’t how to commemorate 75 years, but how to design the next chapter. The National Ballet of Canada has such a powerful legacy, and we wanted the anniversary to live as part of its ongoing story, not as a moment frozen in time, but as a bridge to the present and future," further elaborates BMD partner and chief creative officer, Laura Stein.
