ArtRio started in 2011, aiming to be the best and largest art fair in Latin America. The strategy was to develop an identity that conveyed a carioca flair and the event’s international scale.

The inspiration was the Portuguese stone sidewalks, Rio de Janeiro's icon. Two styles of custom designed type create the brand’s contrasting combinations: architecture and nature, people and technology, black and white.

The “R” can be used as an isolated element and as a basis for a unique pattern: the ArtRio sidewalk.

Created by Brazilian branding agency Dupla Design, the identity has picked up a string of recognitions; these include a German Design Award 2014; a 2013 iF communication design award; and a special distinction in the Brazilian Design Biennial.
