Identity Design for Brazilian Art Fair, ‘ArtRio’

Identity Design for Brazilian Art Fair, ‘ArtRio’

ArtRio started in 2011, aiming to be the best and largest art fair in Latin America. The strategy was to develop an identity that conveyed a carioca flair and the event’s international scale.

The inspiration was the Portuguese stone sidewalks, Rio de Janeiro’s icon. Two styles of custom designed type create the brand’s contrasting combinations: architecture and nature, people and technology, black and white.

The “R” can be used as an isolated element and as a basis for a unique pattern: the ArtRio sidewalk.

Created by Brazilian branding agency Dupla Design, the identity has picked up a string of recognitions; these include a German Design Award 2014; a 2013 iF communication design award; and a special distinction in the Brazilian Design Biennial.
