Peter Gould Creates Branding for Board Game, ‘5Pillars’

Australian designer Peter Gould has created the branding, marketing collateral, and online experience for Islamic activity game 5Pillars.

The religion of Islam is centred around five primary obligations, or pillars of faith, that each Muslim must fulfill in his or her lifetime. These five pillars are the declaration of faith (iman), prayer (salah), charity (zakah), fasting (sawm), and pilgrimage (hajj).

While the first involves testifying that “there is no true God except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”, the other four are religious acts that are performed either daily, once a year or, in the case of the pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in a lifetime.

The 5Pillars board game is therefore designed to educate children on various aspects of the pillars of Islam from the basics to interesting “Did you know?” facts.

According to a new report published by the Pew Research Centre, based in Washington DC, Islam will outstrip Christianity to become the word’s largest religion by 2070.

Being a revert to Islam himself, Peter has formed a specialist consultancy that focuses almost exclusively on developing branding and identity projects for Muslim-oriented products and services.
