Jaguar Unveils Name and Wordmark of New Luxury EV

Jaguar has revealed that its upcoming electric GT will be named "Type 01".

The announcement comes before the car's official reveal scheduled for September this year.

The Type 01 badge will be placed on the "strikethrough motif" where the bonnet meets the windscreen.

According to Jaguar, 'Type' pays homage to its "legendary predecessors", '0' signifies zero emissions, and '1' indicates "the first of a new generation".

"We have reimagined Jaguar for a new era, with inspiration from what has gone before," claims Rawdon Glover, the British brand's current managing director.

Adding: "The Type 01 name is part of that story – for me, the zero also signifies a complete brand reset, and the '1', our first car for a new chapter, a 'one of a kind!'"

The electric vehicle was first presented as a concept car in late 2024, called the "Type 00".

It featured a new Jaguar logo and wildcat emblem (shown below).

The exterior design sparked significant debate, resulting in both national and international news coverage, mostly negative.
