McLaren Unveils Name of Upcoming New Supercar

McLaren has disclosed the name of its next supercar, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
The announcement follows the British manufacturer's recent launch of a brand-new logo and visual identity system.
The new supercar will be named "McL 820", with the naming convention combining the McL prefix, inspired by McLaren's motorsport history, and a numerical identifier that emphasises performance.
For the McL 820, the number indicates the vehicle's power output of 820 PS.
"The naming convention marks the next chapter in McLaren's evolution, creating a clearer and more consistent approach that unifies cars across McLaren Automotive and Racing," says the company.
To mark the announcement, McLaren presented a kiwi bird statue in Covent Garden, central London, adorned in black and orange camouflage featuring the new name.
New Zealand-born company founder Bruce McLaren used the flightless bird as the logo for his racing team – which later spawned the road car division.
