Oscars Academy Unveils New Logo Design

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (famous for its Academy Awards, now officially known as The Oscars) has redesigned its logo.

AMPAS Chief Marketing Officer Christina Kounelias revealed that the new design is the result of a two year “thoughtful internal dialogue regarding the visual identity of the Academy,” and called it “something that accurately reflects our community of artists, their diverse talents, and the creative process they employ to bring disparate ideas together into a single vision.”

The new identity system, which has been designed and developed with the input of agency 180LA, spotlights the Oscar from above – creating a triangular shape and uniting the “A” of the Academy with the famous statuette. This design gives the Academy a presence in its own logo for the first time.
