Solar Power Accelerator (SPA) Rebrands, Reveals New Name and Logo

Solar Power Accelerator (SPA) has announced its rebranding to "Renewable Power Accelerator" ("RPX").

The Swedish firm was established in early 2023 with the goal of expanding commercial and industrial rooftop solar installations in Sweden, allowing property owners to earn from surplus electricity through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), which are long-term contracts between electricity generators and customers.

However, due to changing market trends and a drop in demand in this sector, the company decided to shift its strategy towards e-mobility in late 2024.

It now supplies renewable energy, mainly solar and wind, to charging infrastructure for electric heavy-duty trucks (eHDT), focusing on key transport corridors, logistics depots, and freight terminals across Europe.

The transport and logistics sector reportedly makes up over 25% of EU carbon emissions, while the eHDT market is anticipated to grow at around 10% annually until 2035.

With rising regulatory pressures and the total cost of ownership expected to favour electric trucks by 2027, the shift towards electrified freight is gaining momentum.

"We are part of a broader paradigm shift toward renewable logistics," says William Granelli, the firm's co-founder and vice president.

Adding: "Recent macroeconomic and geopolitical developments have further highlighted the risks of fossil fuel dependency and the urgency of transitioning to resilient, redundant, and locally sourced renewable energy systems."
