Toyota Gazoo Racing Rebrands, Announces Name and Logo Changes

Toyota Gazoo Racing, the motorsport branch of the well-known Japanese car maker, has undergone a rebranding, leading to several changes in its name and logo.

The announcement coincides with the launch of the firm's updated racing car, the TR010 Hybrid (shown below with a new red livery design), which is set to compete in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season.

Furthermore, the team's name and the Cologne-based R&D centre that manages Toyota's WEC team have been changed to "Toyota Racing", while the parent company for Toyota's motorsport efforts is now simply called "Gazoo Racing".

The latter was previously known as Toyota Gazoo Racing, and the Cologne facility was referred to as Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe.

Toyota's racing division has a relatively brief history, starting in 2007 when Akio Toyoda (then the company's executive vice president) participated in the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race with his driving mentor and Toyota's 'master driver' Hiromu Naruse.

At that time, since participating in the race was not officially recognised by Toyota, the team could not use "Toyota" in its name and thus competed as "Team GAZOO".

It wasn't until April 2015 that the company chose to unify its in-house motorsport activities, including those under the names "Toyota Racing", "Lexus Racing", and "Gazoo Racing", under the single "Gazoo" name, at which point it adopted the "Toyota Gazoo Racing" logo.

Now, after nearly two decades, Toyota Gazoo Racing has decided to change its name back to "Gazoo Racing".
