UK FinTech Wagestream Reveals New Name and Logo

Wagestream, which describes itself as “the world’s most widely-used workplace finance provider”, has announced its rebranding to “Stream”.

With its new identity, the UK firm asserts it will speed up its goal to “reduce the poverty premium” for the everyday worker.

Founded in 2018 by Peter Briffett and Portman Wills, Stream is said to be used by over three million workers, and by 2028, the company plans to reach more than 10 million people globally.

It claims to handle over 10 million transactions and £2.5 billion in payments each month through its platform.

The latter, which works as an app, allows workers to access up to 50 per cent of their pay before payday.

They are charged £1.95 for doing so, which the British company claims is a more affordable alternative to credit.

“Our new name reflects our focus on helping people from all backgrounds see where money is coming from, and manage where it’s going,” says Briffett.

Adding: “We’re creating a new way for financial services to be distributed, giving workers cheaper and more accessible financial products that are simply not provided by retail banks.”
