Offthetopofmyhead Brands Police Care Champions

Branding agency Offthetopofmyhead has created the Police Care Champions campaign logo, identity and collateral to raise awareness of the support provided by Police Care UK.

The latter is a national charity that claims to reduce the impact of harm on serving and former police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families by providing them with practical, emotional and financial support. It operates independently both of the police service and UK government.

“The campaign’s logo is inspired by the familiar blue and white police barrier tape that’s used to secure crime scenes. It’s a metaphor for the front line where police are increasingly likely to be physically or psychologically harmed,” explains John Spencer, Offthetopofmyhead’s founder and creative director. “The barrier tape diagonal graphic is an integral part of the logo but it’s also used prominently in the design of the campaign’s online and offline collateral which includes the enamel badge worn by every Police Care Champion. The identity also features atmospheric background images of emergency blue lights – another metaphor for the front line.”

“We wanted a campaign that’s simple and hard-hitting. We wanted something that people could instantly connect with and want to be a part of,” adds Damian Chapman, head of communications and fundraising at Police Care UK.

The Police Care Champions campaign launches in early June.
