McLaren Reveals Name and Logo for New Hypercar

McLaren's motorsport division has announced that its new Hypercar, set to debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) next year, will be named the "MCL-HY".
The ‘MCL’ prefix is at present used for McLaren’s Formula 1 racing cars, while ‘HY’ signifies the Hypercar category, which is the top class in the (WEC) and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
"We are in a golden era of sportscar racing and the Hypercar category continues to be extremely successful, and our new car name shows respect to that," says James Barclay, executive director of McLaren Endurance Racing.
Additionally, the British firm has announced that a track variant of the car will be called the "MCL-HY GTR".
"The MCL‑HY GTR proudly continues a lineage that began with the McLaren F1 GTR’s outright Le Mans victory in 1995 and then continued with the McLaren P1 GTR and McLaren Senna GTR track cars. This badge stands for moments that define McLaren," explains McLaren's chief commercial officer, Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer.
Adding: "With the MCL‑HY GTR, we are writing the next chapter for our most focused, authentic, and uncompromising track cars."
Both the 2027 race car and its track version will be revealed next month.
