Volkswagen Typeface Wins Red Dot Award
Volkswagen’s new brand typeface, consisting of the two fonts “Volkswagen Head” and “Volkswagen Text”, has received a Red Dot Award for communication design.
“With our new brand typeface, we have proved that we outperform industry standards. We have won one of the most highly regarded seals of quality, the Red Dot, for a proven cross-media design concept,” said Volkswagen marketing boss, Xavier Chardon.
Global and digital progress is continually posing new challenges for big brands like Volkswagen. By changing over to its new cross-media brand typeface, Volkswagen says it is taking account of these changes.
“‘Volkswagen Head’ and ‘Volkswagen Text’ are modern fonts with a less geometric design and establish dynamic contrasts. By adopting these fonts, Volkswagen has succeeded in creating optimum interaction between the character of its typeface and its brand,” added Chardon.
The Red Dot Award is awarded by an international panel of 27 communications specialists.
