American Athletic Conference Announces New Name and Logo
In a major rebranding effort, the American Athletic Conference has officially changed its name to “American Conference”.
The organisation has dropped the acronym AAC and has also introduced a new wordmark logo; a new slogan, “Built to Rise”; and its first ever mascot, an eagle named “Soar”.
The league further says it will refer to itself as American Conference on first reference and as “American” thereafter.
The revised name, commonly used by fans and the media, was changed to clear up any confusion with other organisations that have similar names, including the ACC.
“This modernisation is rooted in who we are and where we’re headed. It prioritises clarity, momentum, and the competitive advantage driving every part of our conference forward,” says American commissioner Tim Pernetti.
Adding: “A brand is more than a name. Over the past year, we stepped back, listened, and involved our community. That’s how real, lasting identity is built.”
The league, part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), was first established in 1979 and changed its name to the American Athletic Conference in 2013.
This latest rebranding was done with the help of brand and communications company, ANACHEL.
